Membership Types
The Japanese Political Science Association offers several types of memberships in addition to standard membership, including student membership, senior membership, and lifetime membership. There are no distinct privileges or differences in treatment between these categories, but the eligibility requirements and the annual fees vary.
【Standard Membership】
- The annual fee is 10,000 yen.
【Student Membership】(Updated from 1 April 2025)
- The annual fee is 3,000 yen.
- Student membership is an exceptional category for those who are enrolled in graduate programs. Special Research Fellows (PD) of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science are not eligible for this membership.
- Individuals who were regular members and later became graduate students can apply for student membership. In this case, please submit documentation confirming your enrollment in a graduate program.
【Senior Membership】
- The annual fee is 5,000 yen.
- Only individuals with a cumulative membership of 10 years or more and aged 65 years or older are eligible for this membership.
【Lifetime Membership】
- Only individuals with a cumulative membership of 10 years or more and who have reached the specified age below can acquire this membership by paying a one-time fee, rather than the annual fee.
- The one-time fee is as follows:
- Individuals aged 65 to under 70: 30,000 yen
- Individuals aged 70 and over: 20,000 yen
Membership fee payment requests and postal transfer forms are sent by mail every spring.
Should you lose this form, replacement postal transfer forms are available at post offices (handling charges shall be borne by the payer). Please use the form to transfer your membership fee to the following account number and account name.
