General Assembly and Annual Conference

The Japanese Political Science Association’s Annual Conference is primarily open to association members only, except when presentations are requested or approved by the Planning Committee, International Exchange Committee, or other relevant bodies. Non-members planning to present at the conference must become members before the event.

Only members can view and download the abstracts and papers. Members should log in to the designated page using the password provided in the Japanese Political Science Association Newsletter, which is sent individually to members.

JPSA 2025 General Assembly & Annual Conference

  • Date: Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2025
  • Venue: The University of Tokyo (Hongo Campus)

This year’s General Assembly and Annual Conference will be held at The University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo). Both will take place in the Faculty of Law and Letters, Building 1 and the School of Law Building. The reception desk will be set up in the Faculty of Law and Letters, Building 1. A reception is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, October 11, starting at 18:45, as detailed below.

Any changes to the event format or details will be announced via the association’s website and mailing list.

Transportation Access

  • Subway: 10-15 minutes walk from Hongo-sanchome Station (M21, Marunouchi Line), Nezu Station (C14, Chiyoda Line), Todaimae Station (N12, Namboku Line), or Kasuga Station (I12, Toei Mita Line; E07 Toei Oedo Line).

Internet Access at the Conference Venue (Wi-Fi)

Internet access will be available via the “eduroam” service.

Meals

Within the campus, the University of Tokyo Co-op Chuo Refectory (underground of Yasuda Auditorium, No.4 on the campus map) will be open from 11:00 to 14:00. There are also cafés on campus, including Doutor (in front of Yasuda Auditorium, open Saturday only from 10-16:30) and Starbucks (inside Faculty of Engineering Bldg. 11, look for No. 84 on the campus map, open both Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 20:00). Nearby convenience stores are Family Mart across the street from Main Gate and Lawson at the left side of Yasuda Auditorium. There are additional dining options along Hongo Street (towards Hongo-sanchome station) and Shinobazu Street (towards Nezu station), but many of them close on Sundays.

Childcare Fee Support

The association provides fee support for JPSA members who use off-campus childcare or babysitting services during the conference (5,000 yen per child). For those who want to use the support, please apply by Friday, October 31, 2025. For more details, please refer to the following link:

The association provides support only for the use of paid childcare services (regardless of whether it is public or private). Nearby the conference venue, there is Kids Room Civic located at the 3rd floor of Bunkyo Civic Center, operating on both Saturdays and Sundays (website [In Japanese], phone number: 03-5803-1396). Breastfeeding spaces on site are under consideration.

Participation for Non-Members

Non-members are welcome to attend as audience members. No prior registration is required. On the day of the event, please pay the 1,000 yen participation fee at the reception desk. You will be provided with a name badge at the reception desk, which must be worn while at the venue.
