The Japanese Political Science Association (JPSA) and the Australian Political Studies Association (APSA) initiated a mutual intellectual exchange program in 2025. This year, we invite applications for presenters to be dispatched by JPSA to the annual APSA conference which will be held at Deakin University, Waterfront Campus (Geelong, Victoria) between November 23rd (Monday) and 26th (Thursday), 2026 (Conference website: https://auspsa.org.au/APSAAnnualConference). We encourage all JPSA members to apply.
Number of Selected Presenters: Maximum of two JPSA members
Funding Details: For both selected presenters, the conference registration fee and banquet fee will be waived. The selected presenters are responsible for all other expenses.
Language: English
Application Method and Deadline: Please submit your application by email with the subject line “Application for APSA Presentation” to the JPSA International Exchange Committee contact listed at the bottom of this call. Deadline for application is August 20, 2026. Your application should include:
- English title for presentation
- English abstract (200-300 words)
- Research stream: Select one from “Authoritarian Politics and Challenging Environments”, “Environmental Politics and Policy”, “International Relations”, “Interpretive Methods”, “Political Organisations and Participation”, “Policy Studies”, “Political Theory”, “Gender and Sexuality”, “Quantitative Methods”, or “Teaching and Learning”.
Selection Criteria: If the number of applications exceeds the number of available places, as a general rule, priority will be given to applicants with greater need for financial support, such as graduate students and researchers who do not hold full-time academic positions.
Note that APSA does not require the submission of a full paper upon participation in the conference.
